The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle Shimmer Lotion

On my last expedition to the mainland, I made a little stop by The Body Shop. Typically, I'm very much a Lush girl, but my mum lovesThe Body Shop and I was hoping to pick up a Christmas pressie for her... and instead I left with some lovely goodies for me!

My favourite of all the bits and pieces I picked up has to be the Ginger Sparkle Shimmer Lotion I bought. Oh my word, it is fab! Why do I love it so much? Here is a handy list to explain!

1. It smells sooooo good! If you're not a fan of ginger, you're probably not going to agree, but the smell reminds me of Christmas and baking ginger biscuits with my Nana. It's a warm ginger scent, but it's not overpowering. I am very much a fan of this scent. Big thumbs up from moi.

2. It's shimmery! Anything with a bit of sparkle is alright by me. Nuff said.

3. A little bit goes along way! You get a nice shimmer using just a little product and as it contains Shea Butter, it actually leaves your skin feeling really nice.

4. Its a wee bit fairtrade. The Shea Butter is part of their Community Fair Trade scheme. You can find out more about all that here.

5. The bottle is a decent size. You get 250ml for £8. Sadly, it is only available at Christmas, so I'll be stocking up because why would I not want to sparkle and smell yummy all year round?

6. It's Christmassy! And I love Christmas. Personally, I use this for everyday, but the subtle shimmer could be perfect for Christmas and New Year parties.

Obviously, it's not perfect. I'm yet to find a product that I couldn't find something wrong with.
For instance, this instructs not to use on your face. I know this isn't unusual but it does suggest that this perhaps wouldn't be a prudent product for people with sensitive skin.
The other downside is the definite neccessity of washing your hands after using this otherwise your hands will be very, very sparkly, which may not be a bad thing, but it does look really quite strange.

Have you ever used this product, or any others from the Ginger sparkle range? What did you think?
Do you have a favourite Christmas themed beauty product? Do you stock up on it when it's available?

Pantomania!

Hiya!

So we're mid December now and I think we can safely say it's nearly Christmas!
Christmas is my favourite time of year. I love the food and the parties and having another excuse to catch up with friends and family. I love Christmas shopping and wrapping up gifts and the unbelievable amount of mince pies I can get through in a month.
But one of my absolute favourite things about the Christmas season has to... Pantomime!

I adore a good panto. Panto means sweets and shouting and boos and men in drag and girls dressing up as boys and "he's behind you!" and singing and sweet, beautiful chaos. And last week I was in one!

I joined my local amateur dramatics society in September, specifically so that I could be in panto. We did a production of Dick Whittington and it was the most fun I've had in a long time. I played Fairy Bowbells, the fairy of London. I spoke in rhyme, had a spanner for a wand and best of all, was absolutely covered in glitter.

The wonderful Judith did my hair and make up and we took great delight in changing my eye make up for every performance. Her passion for glitter is as rampant as my own, so together we caused havoc backstage, pouring more and more all over me. It took me days to wash it out of my cleavage.
Less joyfully, I was bullied into excessively back combing my hair. 3 times a day for 3 days. Judith forbade me to brush or wash it out so by the end of the production, my poor hair looked like this:
All the same, I had the best time and I can't wait to get involved again next year!

A wee introduction

Hiya!

My name is Sarah and this is my first ever post on my brand new, lovely blog!

Like my blog, I am also brand new...to blogging! I follow and read a lot of blogs and have finally decided to start my own.

I thought what better place to start then with a wee introduction? So here we are.

I live in Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis, which is an island in the Outer Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland. Rugged and wind battered, Stornoway is beautiful but a little bleak. It's a funny place to live, but after 2 years, I've fallen in love and right now, I can't imagine being anywhere else.

I have four big passions in life: music, make-up, fashion and food. Sadly, there isn't much opportunity to indugle any of those here, so I adore my trips to the mainland. Glasgow, Edinburgh or Manchester are my cities of choice for regular visits. Concerts, shopping, visits to family and best of all, reliable phone signal.

I think that's all for now, but I'll be back soon enough.

Sparkle and shine!

Love,
Sarah
